bug Fantastico install "includes" chmod problem

    Hello all

    Ok...

My host has the option of using Fantastico for easy install of things like Zen Cart (1.3.8a). All was well until I looked at the site and there was a warning about /includes needing changing to 644 or 444, but when I made the change (which I think I did correctly), the home page became an error page - line 26 error or something.

Is this a common problem that someone would know how to fix?

    Thanks.

You will have to be more precise as to what the message was and what you have changed???

Most likely, it told you that your /includes/configure.php needing to be chmod to 444
Not the /includes folder - - match it's permissions to other folders
    Might be 755

I just encountered the same problem. The actual error message reads:

Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/kcmunchi/public_html/shop/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file (read-only, CHMOD 644 or 444 are typical). You may need to use your webhost control panel/file-manager to change the permissions effectively. Contact your webhost for assistance.

This is after I installed Zen in the subdirectory "shop" and changed the permissions on the "shop" directory to 444.

I went back and changed the "shop" directory to 755 and then changed the configure.php to 444 (it was 644) and the error message is gone and I can get to the login screen now.
    Thanks Kobra

I couldn't find that configure file before, but I've found it and changed it to 444. During the installation, fantastico says that the file is configured (and to be fair, I think 644 can work) but I too changed it to 444 and it's fine now.

What is required differs upon the server configuration your host is using
