slow header - why?

The logo header is taking a long time as you can see particularly when you go to the log on page;

I am using a webheader.png file that is 780 x 102 and is 3.73kb
I put this in includes/templates/CUSTOM/images
and adjusted the includes/templates.CUSTOM/css to
#logoWrapper{
background-image:url(../images/webheader.png);
background-repeat: repeat-x;
background-color: #ffffff;
height:95px;
}
There is also a blue colour showing up briefly as it goes to the log on page????
I know nothing but am very slowly getting there.......can you have a look and advise

blue color , is background color of your navMainwrapper .
normally any page that loads using SSL is slow , that is including images.

so i don't see any reason to be concern about this .
you can make your site just bit faster , but turning off Who's online side box as is not very interesting feature anyway.

also turn off category count . .the number beside categories .. it should speed up your page to some degree ..

THANKS for your advise - I will get rid of the blue now that you told me where to find it..................
and will live with the log on page being slow.
