Different main page

Hi All. This may well sound like a silly question, but I cannot find the answer on the forum or FAQ pages (maybe I don't know what I am looking for).

How do I have a main page which has a very differnt layout from the rest of the site. I want a very graphical interface on the front page only - photos with redirect /banners and a limited menu to parts of the store, and the rest of the pages in a rather standard layout.

I suppose what I am asking is ... 'I assume pages that appear when you select a category, all products or specials' are tpl_index_categories.php, tpl_products_all_default.php & tpl_specials_default.php... but I cannot work out what the home page is called - is it tpl_index_default.php (usually the info on the bottom bar of the browser is a bit of a give away, but it does not show anything but the domain for the home page).

I would like to remove the categories from the home page.

Is all of this covered in the 'Start Your Web Store With Zen Cart' book...
