    Default Writing own addon

    Hi guys,

I'm looking to write my own addon but don't seem to be able to find much documentation or tutorials. I want to try to get my head around doing it "the Zen Cart way" rather than botching something together as I've done quickly in the past.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some tutorials? Perhaps an explanation of each of the directories and what they are for?

    Thanks in advance,
    Arthur

Have you tried the info in the Wiki? http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.php/Developers

Yeah, tried here but I'm more of a "learn by example" type person and don't really understand much of what is there.

I think i'll be better when Zen 2.0 comes out since i'm pretty sure that'll have been written from the ground up with developers in mind. I realise that many customisations have had to be made to the base osCommerce system in order to get it to the state that it's at now though. Still not ideal for development.

In saying this, I am used to the types of exampled and development on the Joomla CMS and in all honesty, you're probably a little spoon fed over there.

Any examples that spring to mind? ( I also realise that there are many differnt types of thing that you can do to addon to Zen Cart but a simple hello world type example would probably do for now ).

    Thanks,
    Arthur

What i'm basically looking to do is to add a price comparison into the product info page i.e. a cost for the same product on other sites. I can put this manually into the HTML description but would rather it was all in the DB and pulled out per product.

I'm really looking for an idea as to where to start more than anything else. Is this something I could just write into the template files or are there other files I should put in place seeing that this will be pulling additional content from the DB?

Thanks for any advice in advance,
    Arthur
