Addon Template/Override Files Newbie Needs Help

If I am using a contributed/addon template like "Lavendar", do I still need to make and use override files like recommended for the "Classic" template? This just has me stumped. Can someone help with this question?

Usually, the downloaded template (like Lavendar) will already have the override folders created, and they will be uploaded with the template files. It's possible, though that new folders will not be created in some places where they can be, and may be needed in the future, so you'll have to do those yourself.
