Text Configuration - Strange Characters

Hello to all,

I have installed Zencart, and everything went ok untill i started to introduce products.

My language (portuguese) includes some characters not used in english like ç, ã, etc.

In admin part, using some codes like ã &aatilde; or ç ç I have managed that all texts look ok.

But in shop area, small squares are appearing instead of the letters.

Can someone please tell me how can I solve this situation?

in the header you have <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> by default.
you need to change the charset for your language.

that's all i can help with as i don't which file to edit or what charset you need.

i believe you need UTF8 character encoding in order to show non english character in your native language .

note that , this tutorial is aimed for new install of zencart . that means, you need to modify few files before installing zencart . there are no good way of changing existing zencart install to UTF8 without effecting contents. ( non that i have found so far ) ..

follow the tutorial , and install new zencart on test server and see if UTF 8 encoding is the solution to the problem .
