Can I allow checkout with NO payment? And manually collect payment separately later?

Hi, apologies if this question has been posted elsewhere, ive tried looking but cannot find any answers.

I want to have a checkout on my shop, but do not want payment to be taken in the checkout. I just want customers to place their order and receive notification of their order and then I will take payment from them manually 30 days later.

Is this possible with Zencart? is there a simply disable payments option or do i need to install some sort of add-on?

The fact that a transaction is taking place means that you are obliged to run the checkout process, so what you can do is "modify" a module such as check/moneyorder to enable checkout and to notify the customer that you will be collecting payment later.

Essentially, this "modification" will be to the language DEFINES that relate to check/moneyorder, so if you change wording here and there, you will have a module that allows the transaction to be processed, and (with good words) tells the customer how you will later collect payment.

My colleague, schoolboy, developed a CLONE of the check/moneyorder module and called it Account Holders - to achieve much the same thing... This module is in the free downloads section, so grab a copy, see what was done, and try a similar effect.

I take payments manually instead of through a gateway on my site, and I charge my customers credit cards via my eftpos machine as soon as I have the order ready to go. We are a bespoke company and make to order, and sometimes we have to wait on our raw ingredients which delays the process.

We also use the internet banking option, and notify our customers when it's time to make payment.

I suppose you could use check/money order or COD or tweak one of them to do what you want. There is an option (Credit Cart) to have part of the cc number sent to you with the rest stored in the database for you to retrieve separately in order to process the transaction manually.
