    Default attribute priced by length

We have a new site thats being built but we need some advice before we go any further.

What the cusotmer will do is enter the dimensions of his unit required, these are custom made.

i.e. on the product page the customer enter his dimensions into a text box, say 20 x 22.7mm and clicks update and the prices is worked out by attributes that are setup already.

so an attribute would be set at £0.20 per 2mm total £404.60

Is the attributes on zen cart up to this?

If so any ideas how I would set this up?

Attribites can be configured for many options...
I do not get your example as doing normal math

    20X22X£0.20= £88.00
    20X22.7X£0.20= £90.80
    20X23X£0.20= £92.00

    Or

    22+22.7*£0.20 = £8.54

My maths is great. I used a calculator as well, must of pressed another button :-)

£90.80 is correct it's supposed to be 0.20 per 1mm as well (its been a long day)

So how would I set this up?

If this needs to be 100% "custom" then I would price it by the mm at £0.20 ea.
Present them the text entry for their exact size.
Provide instructions to multilpy their 2 numbers and round to the next higher whole mm and order that many or "enter the result in the qty to order box"

If you want this to be automatic and done through programming then it will take exactly that "custom coding"

    Bump,
Is this custom coding possible? and if so, how would I go about it?
I need to do this but don't really have any idea where to start, any tips or advice would be hugely appreciated,
    Thanks.

We're also looking for a way of having two fields (height and width) for a product being input by the customer and then the price being worked out based on the product's base price per square meter.

I've seen a couple of posts on the forum, where people have asked for this, but no solutions yet. If anyone had this custom coded, would you be interested in releasing the code to share with the community?

See my Post #4 and change mm to m/sq
You will need instructions to enter only whole meters as length and width

Thanks for the reply kobra! That would be an option sometimes, unfortunately not for this project, where they require that customers can input height and width requirements individually and the shop calculates the price accordingly.

I guess we need to have a look at having this custom coded, not sure how complicated that would be. If we get it done, I'll try and post a solution back here.
