Default Unable to View Attribute Images

I have worked for hours on this and I am sure I am doing something very simple wrong.

I wish to have images for my attributes... this is the process I am doing.

    1. Catalog > Options Name Manager -- add Option
    2. Click option names button
    3. Under Option Values in the Option Value field add the Value
    4. Click Attribute Controller
    5. Highlight the Option Name and the Option Value... scroll down and in the Attributes Image Swatch field add my picture
    6. Click insert button

When I view my page... no picture (though I do see my choices) and when I FTP I don't see the picture was uploaded.

    Horribly frustrated.

    Thanks for all your help

Would determine this first - - When you FTP a file/image it should be there and this is outside of ZenCart altogether.....
Could be the reason ZenCart can not successfully upload from the admin

I didn't FTP the image... I did exactly as stated above. I used FTP to SEE if the file was actually there or not... which I did not see it. I was trying feebly to troubleshoot the problem.

I WILL remember this when I bulk upload though... don't just FTP a bunch of images into a directory so that is great advice. Just doesn't solve the problem.

    Where did you look?
    These should be in /images/attributes

Go back to the attributes controller for this item and see if the image name has been recorded - -
If so try to FTP the image to the above location and see what happens.

Still does not address why ZenCart can not upload with success

was looking in /images/attributes but also looked in all the other folders as well. Should the whole Images folder (and subfolders) be CHMOD 777... that could be a reason right there... something I will try it makes sense. If it can't write to the attributes directory... could be the problem.

While you are reading... are there any other folders that should be recurrsed CHMOD 777 and not just the folder itself.

    Thanks for all the help!

That did it... would like to know what other directories need to be CHMOD recursively though.

Again this is a question to ask your host they should have a knowledgebase
We are configured to have no folder or file greater than 755 and mostly files are 644 but others can be and are different

Huh, interesting... I changed from 755 to 777 and the files came right up. I also checked the installation instructions again (I think I quote them by this poing ugghh) and there are files they recommend 777... I can understand why NOT to do it and I will play around with different permissions as not to leave my site so wide open.

I have had an insane amount of trouble with other add-ons not working and have had to start from scratch more times than I wish to remember. One problem down 1,000 to go.

    Sincerely, thanks.
