Can You Restrict New Accounts from Certain Countries?

Is there a way to have all new user accounts from a certain country/zone be signed up with a limited account that isn't allowed to shop until approved?

Remove the others and they will no longer be available in the dropdown for checkout/account creation.

Yes, but I want them to be able to CREATE the account. I'm not trying to restrict people from signing up because we want to open our arms to all new customers......but if you're from a certain country, we want to be able to do some background checks before allowing you to shop.

So you see, we don't want to remove the country from our configuration.....rather, we would want all customers who are created with that country to have a status of being able to login but NOT allowed to purchase anything.

You could customize the Customer Authorization so that it is enabled by default, but customize the code to approve everyone unless from a particular Zone ...

Advantage of using a Zone is that you can add/remove places from the Zone ...

This way, Customers must be Authorized to buy ... but if you are not in the Zone for To be Reviewed, you are automatically Authorized ...

This takes a bit of coding, but would probably work for you ...
