Default Default install - change of colour on loading

    Hi All,

I can't say this is quite a fresh install because I have tried to follow instruction re overrides etc and suspecting I had got it wrong uninstalled (through Fantastico Deluxe) and reinstalled again through Fantastico. So if I had made error AND Fantastico does not remove everything there might be something left over!

Anyway my issue is that Zen loads with a sky blue background to the headings which then changes to green. Is that right?

If anyone want to have look then the site is: http://www.karensjewellery.com

Can anyone tell me whether this is how Zen behave out of the box so to speak, or what might be wrong.

    Regards.

That looks correct for the "Classic" Contempoary Green default template...

If you are just evaluating, Fantastico is fine for this BUT once you make your decision on this or any other script you should do a manual install to ease using the script into the future

I suppose you might see that happen if you're on a slower internet connection and the page takes a bit longer to load.

What's happening is that a CSS style is setting the backgrounds (you said sky blue) first, since that's quick to draw. While that's happening, it's also downloading the background-image that is used in the same places. When that download finally completes, that image is superimposed over the background-color, giving the illusion that it all suddenly changes.

I assume that you've posted the question because you don't like the behavior. If that's the case, you have several options:

    a) change the CSS to use the desired background color that closely-matches the background image used in the same place
    b) change the CSS to not use the background-image for those sections
    c) change the background-image gif file to be the desired color
    d) remove the background-image from the CSS
    e) etc

Hi Both, thanks for the replies.

I am on Broadband but its only a about 3Mbps but I don't think it is that because I don't see the behaviour on other ZenCart sites.

It isn't that I don't like the behaviour, it was more that thinking I may have fouled up the creation of my directories etc when following the Overrides Tutorial/FAQ, that despite the uninstall and reinstall, it hadn't gone back to default properly. Paranoia really!!

It may not be a speed issue then. But the behavior is a result of the mismatch between the css bg color and the bg image color in the default template. You would simply code your own template to do as *you* require.

Hi thanks again for getting back.

I understand, but how has that miss match occurred? Is it an 'out of the box' feature or could it be a left over my previous installation that has not be removed when I uninstalled using Fantastico? What directory do i look in for the source of the problem? Is it in www or or higher or lower in the tree than that?

Sorry all the Q's but I am not finding that the FAQ's and tutorials are getting me to that 'Ive got it' moment!!

It's an out-of-the-box "feature" as you call it.
If you don't like it, you can change its behavior as I've described above.
