    Default Date driving "new products"

I am assuming that "date added" is the date that drives the display of "new products", right? And we can excluding expected products, and that logic must use the "date available" date. Am I right so far?

I setup my products well before I receive inventory. So if I'm right with my assumptions, as long as I put a future date in the "date available", they'll be excluded from the new products list, right?

So that brings me to my next question. Or maybe I'm just thinking out loud here... But, since I set my products up so far in advance, but the time I receive inventory, the date is going to be outside the new products range I set. So when I receive inventory, I need to change the "date added" field? Can I do this?

Yes, the date_added field is what's used to drive the new-products selection ... based on the switch you've set in your admin: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=3

If you need to override the date_added value, you can manually fudge the database data using phpMyAdmin if you know what you're doing in the raw database data.

In the upcoming v2.0 release there will be an additional (admin-editable) date_is_new field which will give you greater control over that feature.

Okay, thank you. I love the "date-is-new" field - that will be extremely useful.
