    Default Checkout Order Miscalculation

    Hi everyone,

I'm having a problem that has me stumped.

I'm using 1.3.8a with the Apple Zen template and Ozpost shipping module. Before this new module, I was using Austpost Advanced.

The problem started _around_ the time of upgrading to 1.3.8, but I'm not entirely sure.

I started getting orders that calculated the cost of the product correctly but were miscalculating the postage during step 2 of the checkout process. And it was in the customers favour.

Logged in or out, when items were in shopping cart or during Step 1 of the checkout process, the Ozpost (and older Austpost) module calculated the correct postage based on the products dimensions. It was only till Step 2 in this process, showing the total, it came out slightly less.

    ie:

    Item costs $16.50
    Weight - 0.3kg
    Postage $5.60

    Total SHOULD be: $22.10

    Total says: $18.59

    Help!

If it didn't have you stumped then it wouldn't be a problem

Are you saying that you upgraded to the ozpost module AND zencart 1.3.8 at the same time?

The last time I encountered strange and seemingly inexplicable 'odd' numbers like this it was caused by either incorrect default currency settings and/or incorrect GST settings, so please check these and get back to us with the URL for your store if the problem persists.

    Cheers

I have one tax class - GST. It is set for 10% for the zone of Australia.
Currencies is set to Australian Dollar with a value of 1.00000
I use Paypal IPN Website Payments Standard only.

However - I think I may have worked it out :)

In the Order Total Module, the shipping was uninstalled. I installed and made active. Proper shipping price appears and total is correct!

Will keep testing this out to make sure...

    Thanks again

If it's fixed, great, but if what you have found is correct it still doesn't explain the figures that you originally gave.

    ------------------------------------
    Item costs $16.50
    Weight - 0.3kg
    Postage $5.60

    Total SHOULD be: $22.10
    Total says: $18.59
    -----------------------------------

If the shipping cost was missing your total would have shown $16.50 ... and not the $18.59 you specified.

If GST was added to the item cost, (no shipping) it would have shown $18.15 ... still a fair way short of the $18.59.

As I said before, I really can't explain what would cause such an odd number result, but I *can* identify many things that WON'T cause it, and the shipping not being included in the order total is one of them.

Good idea, because the numbers don't add up (literally)

I agree that it is strange that by just installing the shipping order total module, the correct pricing appears.

As I was troubleshooting, I only changed one variable at a time then tested to make sure I knew what, if anything, made it work.

I admit maths is certainly not a strong point of mine.

Initially I thought the amount missing might be the paypal fees, but this total was appearing before the customer goes through the IPN, and the recorded fee for each transaction didn't match up either.

I have also narrowed down the timeframe to when 1.3.8 was installed, I still had Austpost Advanced installed and the error occurred under this and Ozpost, which I only installed a few weeks ago.

Anyway I can't explain it, but will post anything up that I come across that does, as it might help some other person with the same problem...
