Default Creating Several Test Templates from One

    Hi All,

Can't see this as a question raised previously. I want to use a template as a basis for maybe two or three test designs.

I haven't tried it yet because I am assuming that all the test templates based on the original will appear in the drop down list of my admin screen with the same name. Is that right and if so how to I modify each test so that they have a different name?

Appol's if this has been covered and I have missed it in the FAQ's.

    FTF.

Each time you make a test copy, you will have to give it a new folder name, and you should edit the copy of template_info.php in that new folder with the new name. Then it will show up identifiably in the list.

Ok, having thought about it. Can I have a bit of advice on this please.

Say I wanted to base my site on the 'Contemporary Green' one that comes with the default install. So that I don't mess up that original one I will create a classic2 customer folder and will copy the original classic into that. How many classic2 do i have to create to do this properly?

    Or am I missing something?

    Thanks for any help again.

There are /classic/ folders in a number of locations - /includes/templates/, /includes/modules/, /includes/languages/, /includes/languages/english/ to name a few. All of them (all that currently contain files) need to be copied to start from the complete Classic design. There are some /classic/ folders that are empty and serve only as markers for where to put custom files if they are needed.

    Ok, I have done this.

Copied the 'as installed' classic folder to another one that I have called classic2 in the following folders:-

    includes\templates
    includes\languages\english
    includes\modules\sideboxes
    includes\languages\english\modules\payment
    includes\languages\english\modules\shipping

I have updated the template name in template_info.php as advised here and switched to my custom2 template which should at this stage be identical if I am getting it right!!

    Two questions arise:-

    1. My sideboxes have disappeared - any idea what's up??
    2. Am I getting this completely wrong??

    Any advice or comments appreciated.

    Regards.
    FTF
