Removing Customers from E-mail lists

I sent out a coupon e-mail to "All Customers" last night. One of my customers mailed back and asked to be removed from future mailings. They are not subscribed to the newsletter. Is there a way to remove the customer from future coupon e-mailings?

I'm using Zen Cart 1.3.8
I e-mailed the coupon from the "Coupon Admin" in Gift Certificates/Coupons

In the future, instead of selecting 'All Customers', select 'All Newsletter Subscribers'.

I realise coupon emails are not actually "newsletters" but I don't think you should be sending marketing material to anyone who hasn't opted-in.

Thanks for your opinion, but that's up to me to decide who will receive our marketing materials. As far as I'm concerned, marketing materials are not newsletters.

Does anybody know an answer to the question that was asked?

I would argue that it's up to the government. Yes, marketing materials are not newsletters, but they both require opt-in. It's not just opinion, it's also law.

That seems to refer to putting tracking cookies on a persons computer.
Nothing to do with opt in or out newsletters etc??

Law or not, enough customers complaining to their ISPs about unwanted advertising (aka spam), and you will start getting blocked by ISPs and blacklist organizations.

Why is there an e-mail "All Customers" choice? Is that a mistake?

I don't see an option for what you want to do. 'All Customers' is, I guess, 'all customers' and the only way I see to remove the guy from that list would be to remove his account (which might be an option, depending on how much he buys). Maybe 'active customers in last 3 months (regardless of subscription status) might be a reasonable compromise.

Don't be too hard on the posters who offer advice rather than solutions - offering insight about the advisability of what you're asking about is part of what we do here. It's not a Knowledge Base, it's a community.
