please help me clear some confusion about products

Hi everyone,
I have been waiting to ask this question but cannot any longer.

PRODUCTS

NEW PRODUCTS are the ones recently added

SPECIALS are the ones with discounts applied to them

FEATURED PRODUCTS ? what is the difference with ALL PRODUCTS ?


Say my client wants to display 12 products and that's it for the moment. No need for Specials or New Products to be displayed (i can turn this off in admin).

Where i am confused is in not understanding what Featured Products are exactly. In admin Featured Products has its own editing facility.

Please help understand, is it the default showcase on front page?

If you want to display only 12 products, but you have 20 or 100 products, those are "featured". The criteria for choosing featured products are up to you. No products will show in the "featured" centerbox or page unless you set them to show.
