    Default connection problem

Hello, i have just tried to log onto my website www.bodykitsonline.co.uk and i am getting a connection problem message, and what looks like a standard zencart error page which says

    Sorry!
There seems to be a problem connecting to our database. Please give us a few minutes to remedy the problem. Thank you.

Its been like it now for at least an hour, any ideas on what it may be

Have you changed your database name, or database user details?

Have you changed your configure files?

Can you connect to your database via phpMyAdmin or whatever mechanism your your host provides?

thanks for your prompt reply, i can get to phpmyadmin, although i very rarely go there, usually just to change the length of product titles.

I havent changed my username or configure files.

    I cant get /admin either

That message is telling you that the information provided to your Zen Cart to allow you to connect to your database isn't working. As it sounds as though your MySQL server is probably working (otherwise phpMyAdmin would also be unable to connect), the information being given to your Zen Cart must no longer work with your database.

You will need to use phpMyAdmin to ensure that the database information in your configure files matches that which your MySQL server is expecting. You might also want to talk to your webhost in case they have made any changes to how MySQL databases are handled (though it would be surprising if they had done so in such a way as to cause this sort of problem).

That sounds like a problem in your control panel. I wouldn't recommend editing files directly from there, they can corrupt files, though in this case it will hopefully be nothing more serious than that the file was read-only and so you can't write back to it. If so, you will need to change the permissions before trying to edit it.
