    Default All email stopped

    Suddeenly all email stopped working on this install of Zencart
    Zen Cart 1.3.8a

    Database Patch Level: 1.3.8

    v1.3.8 [2008-09-04 14:24:59] (Fresh Installation)

    All notifications and contact email systems have stopped working. Funny thing is I have another zencart on the same server and it's email system is working fine.

    i had this happen to me, turned out to be an issue w/ yahoo blacklisting my name. I noticed some emails starting to land in my spam box, then more then gone - nothing. I had to go w/ gmail and switch email addresses.

    I am having a new prob w/ my email now but related to my BB. i get all my other gmails but do not get ANY from Zen? I am thinking that it is similar to the above. maybe it just does not like the fact that they come from the same address. anyone know how I can change this w/o creating yet another email address to check???

    Also, I will post all this in a fresh post but while I am here, does anyone know how to have the "from" email address in the contact form be the customers email address, I hate when I reply I have to start a new email and loose what the customer wrote.

    I added the email archive contribution and suddenly the email started working? Don't know why?

    I am having this same problem. I'm getting no customer emails and no notifications of sales. I really have no idea what to do here. Can you tell me what the email archive contribution is and how do I add it? If anyone could help me I would be so grateful!

    KayM the switch for archiving emails is in admin/configuration/e-mail options/email archiving active? (should be about the fifth option down the list)

    I will try this as I have the same problem.

    Well, here's my first post on the forum ... I had the same problem with emails suddenly not working. I installed the email archiving tool mentioned previously ... then I went and looked at the archive and found "suspicious" information in the text of the email that was archived! (Also look in configuration>my store>store name to see if there's anything suspicious ... that's another big hint.)

    So, I downloaded and installed the security patch ... cleaned up the "weird" php files in the images folder (read threads noted above) ... and reset the store name in admin ...

    THANKS to all the posters on the forum ... after many, many hours of trying to figure things out on my own, the "clues" from the email archiving and info found on the forum led to getting things working again. (Knock wood!)

    I'm posting this HERE in hopes that it will help some people who, like myself, recognized an EMAIL problem but weren't aware of the SECURITY issues and clean-up required.
