Default Second Zen Cart on same server for wholesale site

    I have a v 1.38 cart running now.
I want to have another complete zen-cart site running on the same server that is a copy of the existing cart.

I hope to have the second site for our wholesale customers.

I have looked at dual pricing and it seems a lot of problems arise from installing this mod.

If I have my host copy the existing folder over it just mimmics the existing site.

What do I have to do to have both sites ?

    thanks,
    Martin

Do you want to share a database so that stock will be removed by both sites? If so, there's a Multi-site mod.

I do not need to share a database as I do not use quantities in the site.

Can I have the host install a new zen-cart and then move the parts database to the new cart ?

I will install a new template on the new cart when installed.

Do not need a customer data base, as the dealers will be all new customers.

How do I see the parts database ? How do I get to phpmyadmin ?

    thanks,
    martin

You access phpMyAdmin through your webmaster's panel (usually CPanel). It's not part of Zen Cart. The backup facility should give you the list of tables available, but I'm not sure which ones you need to do what you are asking.

It sounds like both sites are running off the same database. You'll have to create a second database for the new site. If the database was duplicated along with the site, you'll have to remove the information you don't need.

i'm following this thread with great interest, wondering what martin did. i'm also not to keen on including this dual pricing thing.
far to complicated, but i do have to use my customers info.

I do have wholesale and retail. I'm quit worried, because i have to make a copie, have already tried doing it on a subdomain, but it did not work out.
i am wondering what you guy's would advise.
what files do you copy, and what don't you??

I'd advise the dual pricing module. The instructions are pretty good, and, as far as I know, it works well.

Don't let this stuff intimidate you.

I have used and looked at the dual pricing module. However, I have products that I only want wholesalers to see. Regular retail customer should not be able to see the wholesale products. I would like to have one site with one database if possible. But do you know a quick way to have the dual pricing mod hide wholesale products so that they are only visible to wholesalers (an not to regular customers)?

Summary of what I'm after: Wholesalers can see wholesale and regular retail products. Regular customers can only see regular retail products.

I am also very interested in this.

I am deciding between Dual Pricing and setting up a new store for wholesalers (eg retail: www.lilpixies.com; wholesale: www.lilpixies.com/wholesale). However, I do not wish to have to upload all my products and information twice.

Is there anyway I can do this?

    Thanks!
