zen cart free charge card

Hi,
I have performed a search for this on the forums and only found an archive post saying to search for it (go figure). It also contained a link to a post but the link is dead.

Can someone give me a brief explanation what this is and potential uses please.

The Zen Cart Free Charge Card Payment Module was specifically designed for sites that wish to allow for Free Products and Free Shipping where the total of the Order is $0.00 ... so you needed to have a PayMent Method that "ruled" over all other Payment Methods when the Order Total was $0.00 ...

This is the same concept of the Free Shipping (freeshipper) Shipping Module ...

There needed to be a "ruling" Shipping Module when the Shipping was $0.00 and it would in turn hide or turn off all other Shipping Modules when $0.00 Shipping Charges occured ...

The names of these Modules were made soley for my own amusement and so that they would standout and be easily found on Searches, Setup and Discussions ...

so like, if i had some manuals that i was going to give away with an order, how would i set that up?
basicly, if the customer wants the manual only its free, with free shipping. however if they want the manual and another item, can they do that.. so that basicly, it will charge them for the other items, and there shipping, but wont charge them for the item which is free?

in your zen cart admin area point your cursor at modules and choose shipping. on the next page choose the "FREE SHIPPING!" module. click install. change "enable free shipping" to true and click update.

then go to your manual that you want to offer free with free shipping and set the shipping options to "Always Free Shipping".

So here is a question about the free charge card:

I have an order which is now zero because a discount coupon was used. Without the coupon, the product would be $5 and the shipping would be $5, but with the coupon the order total comes out to 0. That works fine.

So, shouldn't the zen free charge card be showing up as one of the payment options on the checkout page? I have the freeshipper installed, and I have the free charge card installed, as well as Authorize.net AIM (for when orders are not $0), but I don't see the zen free charge card as a payment option at any time.

Did I mess something up in my settings?

Until the coupon is added to make the order $0.00 the Zen Cart Free Charger freecharger Payment Module cannot show ... as it isn't a Free Order yet ...

Naturally it wouldn't, but it wasn't showing AFTER the coupon was added and the order total was 0. The coupon had been added, the order total was $0, and it was still showing the Authorize.net credit card payment option and not the zen free charge card.

I went into includes/classes/payment.php and at line 40 changed this:

        if (zen_get_configuration_key_value('MODULE_PAYMENT_FREECHARGER_STATUS') and ($_SESSION['cart']->show_total()==0 and $_SESSION['shipping']['cost']== 0))

to

        if (zen_get_configuration_key_value('MODULE_PAYMENT_FREECHARGER_STATUS') and ($_SESSION['cart']->show_total()==0 and $_SESSION['shipping']['cost']== 0) || $total == 0)

and it started working fine.

But are you saying that it should have been showing up once the coupon was applied and the order went to 0, that that is the default cart behavior? Because I just could not get it to come up without going into the code...

Also, when I then click through on the Zen free charge card to the order confirmation page, "Zen Free Charge Card" doesn't show up under Payment Method, it's just blank. Is that what is supposed to happen?
