Installing new template

Somebody please helps. I want to put a template from zancarts free templates list on my website.
I have been studying that zen cart book and the archaives for three days and just cant get a custom template to install.
I downloaded this:
http://(sorry, site offline)/1-3-8a/...ir=forest_path
Then unzipped it and uploaded it to my folder in templates (next to classic) that I called forest_path (Because that is the name of the template) but nothing that I do will make the new template show up in tools/template selection. The new one just plain wont appear.
I know that the answer to doing this is in archaives and that book (I know because I have been studying them for 3 days now) but can somebody please send me complete idiot proof step by step instructions with details of where to go at each step so I can get this done.
Would be much appriciated as I am going nuts trying to figure this out. There must be just something very minor that I am missing. If you help please dont assume that I can figure out the simple parts as I seem to not be able to so please include every line detail that I need to know.

FROM the readme file that comes with the template

INSTALLATION:

Unzip the Package and upload the entire includes folder to your server.

In your admin panel, go to admin -> tools -> template selection, click the edit button, choose the template from the dropdown menu and click update.

Now go to admin -> tools -> layout boxes controller, Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click the reset button.

Open your site in your browser and view the new template in action.
