Default auto complete to https for home page

    Hi all,
With FF and I think IE8 as well, if I (or a customer) types in countrytothecore.net into a blank address bar it will auto complete as http://countr.... I would like it to complete to https://countr...
I can get that page if I type the whole thing in but, I would prefer my potentially new customers to see a secure first page just to instill a sense of security and professionalism.
Is there a way to do this?
I'm guessing it might be a browser setting.
Is there a way to "delete or hide" the unsecured home page?
I wouldn't be happy with a redirect that is slow or shows a "being redirected" message.

BTW I've only recently installed my ssl and everything seems to be working fine, it's just a small detail that I would like to change

I appreciate any advice or comments,
    David

You guessed right - that's a browser built-in setting that even the browser user can't change, so there's nothing you can do about it except with a redirect. Personally, I wouldn't expect to see a secure connection being used for a home page on any site except for major financial institutions or services like Paypal where they do use a redirect to https.

    Thanks for the advice.
I had a look around the net and spoke to my wife who is a big online shopper. It all seems to agree with you that most do not have a secure home page.
I'm working on getting my ssl icon image top right of that page and that should be enough.
    Thanks again
