    Default Installing the security patch??????

    Hi,

I'm still new to Zen-Cart and this is probably a stupid question.. but hey, I have to ask.

I followed the instructions on applying the "Security Patch for Zen Cart™ 1.3.8"

It says to copy over the 4 new files and 1 amended file to the specified admin folders......

Then what??? How does the patch get applied???
I read the instructions over and over, and thats all it says....

But yet, if i go to my admin section, it still tells me that theres a Security Patch Available......

Is there something else I need to do to apply this security patch???

The most common mistake people make when applying the patch files is that they don't put them into the correct folders.
When you unzip the patch file, it contains a folder structure. You need to be sure to put the files into the same folder structure on your server -- ie: you have an "admin" folder, which contains an "includes" folder, which contains an "extra_configures" folder ... etc.
All the files in the June 2009 security patch go underneath the appropriate folders inside your admin folder , ie: under <yourAdmin>/includes/xxxxxx etc. They DO NOT go in the main store's /includes/ folder. Mixing them up will not only cause the patch notification to continue to show, but also cause problems on your storefront.

Also, if you applied the patch on the first or second day after it was issued, you would be missing part of it. It was updated a couple days later with some content that fixes the patch notification message. Re-applying the updated version of the patch will solve that.

    Yes, I understand that.
I have put the files in the correct folder locations in the ADMIN folder....

what I'm asking.. is AFTER I place the files in those folders... do I have to do anything else????

No if your still getting the message you missed something most likely you do not have the newest version of the patch.

The original security patch announcement has the updated file. It's named the same thing, so download it fresh, unzip it, and install the updated files as before.

I have installed the new security patch (20090619) and followed the instructions methodically, but I have this warning in my admin area -

Your database appears to need patching to a higher level. See Tools->Server Information to review patch levels.

    any ideas!!!

Go to Admin->Tools->Server Information, and copy-and-paste the information you see there into a reply here.
