Default Cannot connect to database anymore

I am using version v1.3.8a. Earlier this week I edited the config file and since then I have not been able to connect to my database.

I had a backup of my mu config files, I uploaded those and my site would not work.

I have access to my Cpanel and know what my user and ID pass is and still cannot connect. I also updated my my dateabase but still cannot connect for some strange reason.

I have read and read the forums to try to figure out what is wrong. I tried a fresh install to connect with the same data base, it pulls some of my previouse store items but not my all of catagories. I am lost at this point.

I called my host yesterday and they said they could not help me.

    Thanks for any help.

Does this mean that the fresh installation is connecting with the database? A link to your site might let us see something you're missing.

I am fine now and back up. I was able to connect to the newer database. I somehow lost all my info from all my old data base. What bugs me is my parent directory keeps showing in public view and I cant figure out why it is doing that and how to change it from showing.

Do I have my zen files where they are supposed to be?

    public_html/shoppe

I renamed my zencart store to /shoppe and named my admin to my sons name and added numbers for security.

    Thanks!

    :)

If you mean that when someone goes to the root of your site, they see Index of ..., that means there's no index file in the root directory. I'm not sure why you moved your store to a subdirectory, but if that's where you want it, you'll need to create an index.html page for the root. Maybe an image of some sort that links to /shoppe.

Ok, so all i need to do is bump all my files just below the public_html folder.

I will then have to edit the config files. That is how I lost my first data base files.

    define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/public_html/'); >>>>>> is this correct????
    define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/public_html/'); >>>>>> is this correct????

    shiould be

    define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/');
