Default All data deleted, whats the best course of action to restore my site?

Someone hacked the host of my host and deleted all files on the server including backups.

I have a backup for the database and a backup of my site although the database backup is probably almost a month more recent than the full site backup. What is the best way to go about getting my site working again? Can I just reupload all my files or do I have to do a fresh install of zencart then go back and reinstall my files over the top of that? Is it ok that the data base may have some extra info in it at first?

If you have a full backup of your site which is more recent than the database backup, best to go with that. You may need the help of your Host to restore it though.

Otherwise, upload your Zen Cart files from your computer and Import your database backup. You will have to manually recreate your MySQL database before Importing. Best also to use new database ID and PW and update your two Zen Cart 'config' files accordingly.

In either case, your Hoster would be the place to ask about restoring your account / files.

I uploaded my old files and my newer database, I configured it using the db name, username and password in /includes/configure.php but it is still giving me the "can't connect to database" message screen.
