Default Removing pre set things in template

I just built this website here:
    http://www.swampkauri.com/
    I have two problems
(1)How can I get rid of that zen cart banner in the upper right of my webpage? (There is nothing in banner manager that is putting that there)
    and
    (2) In the left red collumn there is a note that says:
"Graphics and WebSite design were provided by Templates13.com."
How do I get rid of that?
    Thanks for the help.

You can remove it from includes/templates/your template/common/header.php It is your logo... or just replace it.

If you can't remove the template copyright notice, is there another free template out there laid out like this template so that I can remove that copyright?

It is my understanding that changing the copyright notice is not a violation of the terms, but leaving the powered by Zen Cart is a must zen cart has spent years making this wonderful cart so its only fair to leave that on.

I understand about the Powered by Zen Cart. I guess I should have been more clear. It was the templates12.com that I was hoping to remove but from what I understand they have to do it. I emailed them and am hoping to get a reply soon. I see that they charge to remove that.

    Thanks for your quick reply.

It is not actually required to leave the "Powered by Zen Cart" in the footer, though it is certainly a good idea to acknowledge the source in this unobtrusive manner. You do have to leave the ZC notices in admin and in file headers. The big Templates13 notice is a real turn-off, though. It is in a sidebox which probably deliberately was not given an id so that it could not be disabled selectively in the stylesheet.

The design is simple enough that making something very similar from scratch would be easy. Make a new custom template folder per the tutorials. Starting from a copy of the template_default stylesheet, you can do most of the work by styling stock elements (the Firefox Web Developer and Firebug extensions are your best friends here). You can move the breadcrumbs code from /includes/templates/your_template/common/tpl_main_page.php to /common/tpl_header.php.

You will have to see the tradeoff between your time and the $ cost for removing their notice. I see that it says "after paying a one-time fee (per domain name / per webpage)", which could get expensive if they consider every page your site could generate separately.

Thanks for your reply. I totally agree with you about the simplicity of this template and have already started working out another solution using a template and doing it from scratch.

I am interested in learning more about making and designing templates and you have led me in the right direction. Thanks so much.
