shipping surcharge on specific products

Hi folks!

Our client has a few products which are larger than most and will cost more to ship -- they'd like to add a $10 shipping surcharge for those items. Is there a way to add a separate surcharge on a per-product basis that doesn't show up as part of the base price, but is listed separately? (In other words, if the product is $40, the listing notes that there's a $10 surcharge on top of regular shipping which is listed then listed in the cart? They don't want to just say the product is $50).

Are you using attributes in your products?
If you are you could add a 'Shipping Surcharge' attribute to only those products that require it .

I'm attempting to do the same thing and it's not working like a charm. Would someone please spell this out for me (the minutia) since I'm clearly doing something wrong with my setup.
