css problem How do I use my own CSS template?

Ok, I have the shopping cart installed on my server and I think for the most part after looking around I know how it works. What I don't know how to do is this...

I had a CSS template designed for my business, I know nothing absolutely NOTHING about Style.css. I would like my site to be a bit wider. I like the width and most of the layout of this site

I would only need on my page the following items:

    Information
    Categories
    New Products
    Product Search
    and Shopping Cart

I have installed v1.3.8a first time using this cart.

Can someone please hold my hand in setting this up so I can get to listing all of my items? I would be willing to send free items in exchange for help, I do handmade soaps, bath and body products.

    Thanks for any help,

    Heidi

Best thing to do is start up at the top of this page, where it says Turtorials/FAQ. They're there to help people get started.

It would also be a good investment to buy the book, also linked up there.

Finally, if this is all beyond you, you can advertise in the help wanted section of the forum to get an experienced user to help you. (I would offer, but I'm too busy at the moment.)

Thank you Rob. I was told I'm unable to use my template which is fine. I have a banner I can use but I can't find where to make the layout wider. If you can send someone my way or tell me how to make it wider I'd appreciate it. I'm figuring part of this out.

It always helps if you give us a link to your site.

The width of the main part in Zencart is set in stylesheet.css under mainWrapper. It's 750px by default, and you can change it to a larger number of px, or a certain % of the screen width.

I guess the first question is... Was the template designed specifically for a Zen Cart site? Or is it just what I call "a picture of a site"? Designers love doing pictures of sites, but few designers know how to design for Zen Cart.

However, it is usually possible to take the picture apart and use pieces of it in Zen Cart, styling elements to suit the design as you go.

In short, tell us more about what you have so far, with a link to your existing site and the design if possible. We'll help better if we know what you're dealiing with.
