    ok
I have been reading postings and in one posting the above temples was similar but she had:

    $template_screenshot = '';

and I am sure this has nothing to do with my original problem but----

    Why?

If you've checked through everything and you're still not seeing the template, I suspect it could be some other problem with your settings/files rather than your overrides.

I re-read through your posts and noticed you've accidentally deleted and restored the "template_default" folder previously.

I'd suggest you install another zen cart store (e.g. shop) with a separate database (e.g. zencartshop) and then put your custom template there. If the new template shows up in your newly installed store, it means that your current store setup is somehow corrupted/mis-configured.

Try it and let us know how things go.

    Why is this so hard?
I am finding that Source Forge is non functional - this is the third download from that site and the first was Xampp and I had to go thru the coding to get that

now with the reload of ZenCart I can not get it either from Source Forge!I click download and it gives me a screen that will not initiate the dowload.

Ok I think I have created quite a mess of things and now do not know what to do.
I was able to get the zencart back downloaded.
    created a folder called snfcart

Now I have two folders with the zencart in it. OK So I started to backtrack my installation. the only thing is that I have two different folders except the zencart folder has the Xampp and the Setting_up_Zencart_On_WampServer_2.zip
the new folder has just the zencart.

OK thinking that I need the xampp in the snfcart folder I copied that folder to the snfcart folder from the zencartfolder. Problem there is that it would not completely copy - OK so the logical thing to do is go ahead a delete it and try something else - It will not delete so as not to confuse the two folders I renamed it xxxxx.

I tried to rename the zencart folder and it is write protected as is I suspect the xxxx folder is.

I tried to get the pages in the new cart to come up and of course I have a curl error which I am going to work on now. And Mercury is in error - probably because it is reading the xxxx folder that is not complete as opposed to the xampp folder in the zencart folder. ??

how do I delete the xxx file from my snfcart folder?
    the error I get is:
    cannot delete php_curl.dll access denied
make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and in use.
So if I can get this deleted and xampp is in a dilfferent folder will that be a problem?
Thank you all for your help.

I'm afraid I'm totally confused now. Let's try to work things out slowly; one step at a time.

Your current problems has to do with a local setup while your original post is about a problem with your template.

Best is to retrace your steps and revert everything to the state it was before you installed the new store and we'll work through the problem from there again.

Let us know if that is a problem as well.

A big Thank You to all who have helped me get out of this mess!
One more tiny Question then I will be off to another step.

When I am tracing my directory path ie
    mydocs/zencat/xampp/thdocs ....
for each a separtate screen comes up - I know I have changed something somewhere but done remember where? i would think it would be easier for just one screen to appear and to be able to go backwards and forwards. yesterday I think i had 10 screens up while working just to trace my paths.

    Again Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure if anyone will understand what you're trying to do with regards to the multiple windows because they do not have access to your PC to understand your directory paths.

I suspect you can solve your problems by opening up any folder and then clicking the Tools > Folder Options menu on the top of the folder window for your Windows XP. Under the "Browse folders" section, make sure you select "Open each folder in the same window".

Try opening a folder after the above setting and see if things work.

Yes you are right that did the trick. Each levle is opening in the same window. Again Thank you.

I am going to start my store front and I am going to try to take good notes.

    Canopy

ok I guess we are not out of the woods yet

I have a missing language files or directory (error on the top in yellow) and I can not access configuration section of the admin.

I have checked the other catagories and can access to top subcat of each so I am assuming that they are ok.
