css problem Width problem with my Stylesheet.

    Hi everyone,

I know absolutely nothing about .css but I had one made up for my business. I love it but I need two things.

First, it isn't as wide as I would like it too be, I want more space in the center of it for my items. To see the site click here.

The second one is, how do I load it into my store? Do I just replace the style sheet from classic?

Thanks for any help, I REALLY need to get this site up and working.

Sorry, to be the bearer of bad news but it doesn't quite work that way.

Not every stylesheet will work with every page. The two are created to work together. This style, although it is lovely, will not work with zen cart without a fair amount of work. OK a lot of work.

Even increasing the width is going to be more problematic that you might imagine. The main image is 800px wide. That is just how wide it is. To increase its width you need to edit the image. Which is not impossible but is not a quick fix.

Nothing that you are saying is impossible, but it is not a quick answer I am afraid.

Again sorry to be a stormcloud.....

Probably not. Zencart isn't meant to be an add-on shopping cart for an existing website. You could use that template and install Zencart in a subdirectory, then have your designer style Zencart to match, but it would be easier to make Zencart your whole site.

Oh Ok, Thanks. Ok, I have a banner so I can.

So my big question is how do I make the layout wider?

I really really appreciate the help! I have to get this site up hopefully by the weekend because I have another craft show this weekend.

I think that the question you are really asking is, 'can a Zen Cart shop look like my other page?'

The answer to this is yes, it can. Zen is very adaptable in the way it can look.

As far as the width goes. If you want the site to be 1000px wide, which I think is a good width, then you really need to have that graphic altered so that it is 1000px wide by the designer. If you try and stretch it or whatever it will look awful which would be a shame.

    So, that is step one

If you have a tight deadline - and that is a really really really really tight deadline that you are talking about - then what I suggest is that you prioritise prioritise prioritise.

What might be a good target is to get Zen Cart up and running with some products and to have inserted your (newly 1000px wide graphic) as the header. The rest of the Zen Cart page might not be stlyed yet and so won't look beautiful but most customers will understand that it is 'under development' and won't be put off. But even getting that far is going to be a challenge!

Perhaps take stevesh's advice and speak to your designer about adapting his design to work with Zen Cart.

    Hope this helps,
    Stormcloud
