    red flag Postage

Hi, I need some help with postage.

The website I'm setting up needs a postage system where anyone outside Europe must contact the shop owner for a quotation.

Anyone inside Europe and UK will go through with a postage price for their country as normal.

Just wondered if anyone had any ideas how I might do this?

    Thanks

    Nick

You could set up zones for the various shipping methods. Because you are in the UK I would use Big Royal Mail add on to do this (it costs about £5 but is worth the agro it saves)

Then the shipping methods that are not available to overseas people do not show up. The only option that is left visible is the default option which I think starts life as 'Walk In' but you could change to 'I will call to arrange delivery' This seems to work for me. Overseas customers have only this one choice offered them.

Ok well I actually have ParcelForce_v2.3.6 as this is what the client is using as the courier. It works great for all the countries inside Europe. Perfect for what I want.

So would I be able to set something up through a different method like yours?

Yes, I am sure that that is feasible.

I can't advise you about how to configure parcel force so that it was only available in Europe. I guess by default it is global? I do not know.

I think the question is simply how to do this.

Sorry, Royal mail did what I needed out of the box so I haven't looked into it!

    Does ParcelForce have a thread?

Just had a quick look at parcelforce. It is really similar to Big Royal Mail as it was developed together.

Can you not just turn off the modules that deal with outside Europe? Admin - modules - shipping and select the ones that you want to keep like ukcourier and eurozone and turn off the ones that deal with outside europe.

I think that if you do that then customers outside Europe will only get offered the 'walk in' option.

But if that doesn't work I would post on the parcelforce thread.

I've turned off all the ones that ship outside europe and when you try to create an account it goes to a blank page for some reason. If you create an account for europe it goes through the whole process fine. Any ideas?

Not really. I really don't claim to be a shipping expert

I would check that you have the 'walk in' option activated.

    Other Options storepickup

That is the default one that is going to be used if there is nothing else available. Maybe you are getting a blank screen because there are no available options.

Do you mean it goes to a blank screen when you create the user account? Or do you mean it goes to a blank screen when that user tries to check out? If it is the second of the two between which pages does it go blank?

Yeah its just when you put in a country such as the USA where the shop doesn't ship to without doing a quotation first.

    Hmmmm.....

Well that doesn't happen for me. I know that is not much help If I get a moment today I'll put parcelforce onto my test server and see what I get.

Does this behaviour go away if you add the international modules back in?

To me it sounds as if the sign up issue is different to the shipping issue. Had you tried to create an international account before this? And you are saying that if you try France, for instance, that is fine?

    And storepickup is enabled?

    The other Nick
