    Default Template upload

I am only just starting to use Zen Cart 1.3.8a I can't say exactly how much I've read about Zen Cart but its a lot.I am extremely confused about how to do much of what I need but for starters I found a new template I would like to install but I really don't know where to start any help or documents that can get me in thye right direction from the ftp on my host to actually getting it into the cart

There should be a folder containing the template info. FTP that folder to /includes/templates and you should be ok.

For example, if the template name is BLUE, there should be a folder called BLUE that contains other folders. FTP BLUE to your /includes/tempates folder on your website. You should end up with /includes/templates/BLUE. After that, go to admin>tools>template selection and select the new template from the pulldown menu. Then go to admin>tools>layout boxes controller and reset your sideboxes for the new template.

Thank and I'll assime that you mean the ftp on the host side of things. I've worked on sites that were fairly simple WYS sites and there really isn't any jockeying around of files

I made the assumption that you had downloaded the template to your computer and want to upload it to your website, so you'd be FTPing the folder from your compter to the server.

It's not that hard. You'll get the hang of it.

easy for you to say. It has taken all day to realize I know less than I thought I did. I found my template select folder under my zen cart directory but the template folder doesn't allow me to upload the new template however the new btemplate does load to the zen cart directory but I can't move it and my store doesn't recognize it.I have watched utube videos about cpanel and zen cart but its not sinking in. If anyone knows of a more detailed site that gives a few moree specifics my hair will appreciate it.

    Thank
    Chris

You should be uploading the template to includes/templates, not anywhere else.

Your FTP client should have 2 windows. One is your local drive. The other is your website. Look for the includes folder in the website side. Open it (usually by clicking on it). There should be several folders and some files in it. Look for the templates folder and open that. That's where you should upload the new template to. Check that your FTP client is in "auto" mode which means it'll change formats for different types of files so they don't get jumbled. Drag the template folder from the PC window to the website window. The FTP client should do the rest.

After that, you should see the new template under admin>tools>template selection.

That was short lived. Its downloaded onto my host but its not in the store admin area. I think 9 hours of the same thing is enough for now.

    Thank
