red flag Need to be able to send test newsletters

I'm not certain why this function isn't in the default newsletter section of the cart.

When you create a newsletter, you should be able to send a test copy to yourself so you can double check how the final product looks - especially since the preview doesn't include the header and the spacing between paragraphs are much larger than the final product received.

All autoresponder programs (Aweber, GetResponse, etc etc) allow you to send a test .... so why doesn't Zencart?

I can't find any addons that help with this.

    What solutions are there?

    Thanks in advance.

Errr. Are you using a very old version of Zen Cart. This is built into 1.3.8 and I can't remember a time when it wasn't there.

In case you haven't found it, when you come to send, simply choose the option to send to "administrator" and it will come right back to you so that you can see how it looks, before sending it out to a wider audience.

I have the very latest version of Zencart ... and there is no place to select to send a test email ... it's all or nothing.

On the Email Options page of Configuration ... which one specifically is Administrator? Another words, one that does not show up on anything the public will see?

You're over thinking it. You are the administrator. It will come to the email address associated with your Admin account (Admin > Tools > Admin Settings).

The administrator option is towards the bottom of the pulldown menu that pops up when you click on the send button for a newsletter. The newsletter doesn't go immediately, you have to choose your audience first. Administrator is one of those options.

Again, there is nothing labeled in any of the emails we setup in Configuration as Administrator ... which one is Administrator.

Nevermind - they need to stop spreading this stuff all over the place ...

Again, You are the administrator. It will come to the email address associated with your Admin account (Admin > Tools > Admin Settings).

It's nothing to do with the configuration area. It will come to you. If another admin logged in and did it, it would go to them.

Ok, why didn't it add the header to the test email?

It's all set for HTML, just like the other zencart stores I've setup for this customer (and newsletters have successfully gone out).

Yes, the header.jpg is updated, etc.

What I was saying about the Admin email, is that it should be under Email Options in Configuration ... like the rest of the emails you setup ... not tucked away in an obscure place under Tools ... where I totally forgot about, so I couldn't remember which of their emails was designated Admin.

I wonder if this helps ...

When you have designed your newsletter it is saved in your Newsletter and Product Notifications Manager, this where you are able to click on the preview button you have already mentioned. If you look to the right of the preview button there is a send button. Click on that, do not worry, it will not send yet.

On the left of the next page there a drop down list. One of the options in the drop down list is titled "Administrator". If you select this option, the email will only be sent to whatever email addres you have already configured to be the Admin of the website.

<<Cringes>> Please do not shout at me, I am only trying to help

Finally! Had to do the same settings numerous times for anything to stick.

Honestly, I think it's due more to my crappy AT&T DSL internet connection today than Zencart. Thoroughly rose my frustration levels to the max ... so I apologize if I ever came across as snippy or such. I'm sending my therapy bill to AT&T LOL.

Thank you, liam and kuroi, for helping out. I appreciate you taking the time to do so.
