Default Editing PHP files causes crashing

I edit shopping_cart.php with either Firstpage or Notepad and I get a white page or a crash - I am able to edit other files with these programs and it works.

I am trying to to remove the message ...............

You may want to add some instructions for using the shopping cart here. (defined in includes/languages/english/shopping_cart.php)

altering a single byte in the file causes a similar crash

a similar problem occurs in the new account log in php file

    any advice appreciated

    site is www.notabenebali.com

    Best

    Nat

Assuming you're doing it right (removing the text in that define and leaving the single quotes) it should be OK with either of those programs. Are you just removing that text, or replacing it with something else?

For define pages, you can edit directly in admin->tools
I no longer provide installation support on forum for all my modules. However, if there are real bugs with the modules please feel free to contact me
