Default Why does my page "flash" between clicks?

I am running ZC version 1.3.8.

I have recently gone from a local install to a live website. I am experiencing display issues that were not seen on the local site. when i click between pages on my live site the middle area flashes the body background, and displays the left sideboxes in the middle of the screen for a second and then corrects itself. I shut pictures off in the browser but still the same. Works the same in Firefox or IE8. Not sure if I did something during the live install or if it is related to a slow server or internet connection. Has anybody else experienced this problem and found a solution. Is there a way to delay the screen redraw until the page is loaded. Any help would be appreciated. the linkto see the problem is http://www.petcanteena.com/zc/index.php.

No... I think is exactly the same you just now have the internet between those clicks instead of being on your network/machine.

Also, the file sizes of your images is too large. Optimizing those (should be < 10K in almost all cases, < 5K is better) will increase the page load speed.

    Hi

Thanks for the reply. I figured that was the case. There must be a way around it. I do not notice it on other sites. Is there a way to disable the redraw until the page (less images) is loaded locally?

This isn't a real answer - maybe your pc is taking your picture

I tried running with pictures turned off in IE8 and I still get the flash. If I am not mistaken the images do not load with the pictures shut off. So I do not think it is the root of the problem. From what I am seeing the column one, column two, and column three backgrounds erase so I see the orange body background. The column backgrounds redraw to white. The left sideboxes redraw in the center for a second. Then the center column redraws and the page straightens out. Does anyone know if the server side streams things as it processes or does it wait until processing is done before it streams the info back to the client. Is there anyway to force the server to process everything and then send the info to the client? Or is there a way to wait on the client side until the page is loaded before displaying.

I do notice that the images do draw slow after the page loads so I will work on getting the sizes down. Thanks for catching that.

I think there is a way to delay page load until all images, etc. are downloaded, but it's stuck way back in my HTML memory.

That would be a band-aid, though, not a cure. I think it's a server thing. Who's your host?

Try temporarily enabling Admin - Configuration - Logging - Display the Page Parse Time Maybe we can see where it's coming from.

godaddy is the host server. I will try and turn on the logging you suggested. maybe that will tell where the problem comes from.

I turned Display the Parse Time on and here is the data i collected. I also took times on my local server. The query times are similar between local and live. The parse times are higher on the local. On the local side it appears that the display stays static and is updated at once. On the live side the display is updated as the page is being parsed. Not sure what it means. Can you help me?
