USPS-Offering Media mail on all items

Hi all,

I need a little help to figure out the rest of my shipping issues. We are on the latest release of Zen Cart and everything is ready to go, except shipping! We set things up through the post office and have decided that will be the only way we ship for now, but things are not going so well. If I test a really big item, then USPS still offers shipping for it, including media mail for a 429 pound table. I don't imagine I will ever be offering such an item, but I really don't think they would ship a tabel as media mail, would they?

Is there some way to set up limitations on these things?

Also, in my configuration, I have a limit of 50 lbs being the most we will ship, but there was no warning or statement telling me I could not ship 429 lbs. Any thoughts on this one?

No I wasn't, but now I am and I still have the same issue. It still offers to ship everything media-mail. Which makes sense to me, somewhat, because how would the post office know what I am shipping.

I am not sure where to go from here. But I will keep thinking about things. Maybe I will have to drop media mail as an option altogether.

You would need to be able to test the products in the cart as being Media Products and when all items in the cart are Media Products then allow that method to display ... otherwise, disable it ...

To do this, you need something that can "flag" these products ...

Is there something that distinguishes the Media Products from regular Products?

I have the same issue. Is there a way to use the category id to display media mail. For instance, can everything from category 21 show media mail while nothing else does?

Is the master_categories_id for these Products that use Media Mail all set to categories_id 21 ... if so, you could test if the cart contains these Products ...

What happens on a mixed cart? Should Media Mail now be disabled because the total number of items do not all come from categories_id 21 ...

Yes, in the example above, for my scenario and per USPS rules, if an item doesn't qualify for media mail, it can't be sent that way, so having a mixed cart should mean that the media option would be disabled.
