Offer Free Shipping over $50 OR coupon

I have a customer who's site offers free shipping over $50. that works great. now he wants to offer coupons as well for a percentage off that works too. BUT the problem comes that he wants to only allow one or the other - Free shipping on all orders over $50 OR allow use of a coupon for a percentage off.

Short of hacking into the modules and doing a custom change, does anyone know an easy way to do this?

There is nothing built into Zen Cart to prevent Discount Coupons from being used based on the amount of the Order ...

You would need to customize the code to your specific needs on this ...
