Hello all,
I'm using windows XP with firefox, trying to install zen cart on wamp server, I downloaded the beautiful tutorial by oxicottin but it's a little outdated. I got to the "Database Setup" part where I need to create the database and database user and insert the recently created database and user in the correct fields.
I created the database and database user and password, all in the name zencart for simplicity and to follow "Step 10" in the tutorial. I restarted the Apache server to make sure all the changes take affect and started the setup process.
When I press "Save Database Settings", I get "The connection was reset" and all I can do is just go back.
I tried also with the root and root password, I tried to give the same password for that user in the privileges page just in case.
I'm publishing everything I did on a different thread to help others.
Help...

I described in detail everything I did in this thread.
I don't think it's a faulty Wamp version but have to test it by downgrading to 2.0h.
I think there's something wrong with my database creation process that I cant figure out...
So again, help...

What version of PHP is in the wampserver version you're having problems with?
Zen Cart v1.3.8a and older are NOT compatible with PHP 5.3. and newer.
Either use an older version of wampserver, or wait for Zen Cart v1.3.9 or v2.0 when they are released..

Wamp server 2.0h is using PHP 5.2.9-2, you think it'll do, going to try it in a few minutes...

Finally the install is finished correctly, now I just need to design my shop, make phpbb work, contact the creditcard service, get a static IP and a few other minor stuff, back to the frums to read and learn...

You forgot at least one thing ... that is get a real live hosting account on a real webserver.
DO NOT RUN YOUR STORE on wampserver !!!!! It is not secure..

Unfortunently that's exactly what I had planned at least for the begining untill I see a buck or two from sales from this online store.
Can I make it secure?
