red flag HELP! I've tried everything. Why can't I get the Purple Lily template to show?

I want to switch my classic template over to the purple lily template package. I have followed all the steps. I downloaded that package, uploaded the files. I'm having trouble as to where I need to create this copy of my template directory. Actually I don't even see one. I go to the Admin side on Zen Cart and it still shows classic with no other options. Even after doing the reset. I have read about there being some sort of a default button turned on some where in the Admin section I'm not seeing?
Can some one please lead me in the right direction??????
I currently have the 1.3.8a version.

All modules and add-ons in the free addons section of zencart, will be zipped files. When extracted on your local machine, they will almost always unzip into the correct file tree structure for your remote (server-side) install of ZC.

If you are using a GOOD FTP PROGRAM, then the process of sending up one of these add-ons is often just a case of navigating to the same directory LEVELS in both your local and remote FTP panes, then dragging the folder(s) in the local frame to the remote frame to tart the FTP process.

For example... if your new module (or template) is unzipped and the its main folder is called "includes", then you must navigate on BOTH panes, to the level where the "includes" folder shows up on both the server and the local drive.

If you are not seeing the template in your admin console, then you have probably not loaded it at the correct LEVEL - the folders are not in the proper tree hierarchy.

BEFORE you load up new add-ons, you should:

    1. backup your site
    2. READ all instructions that come with the new mod / add-on
    3. Make any appropriate changes before you ftp the new files.

I actually need basic step by step instructions on how to set up or create a new "custom" folder. I see the classic folder within the includes folder and it looks as though everything is inline but when I go to create a custom folder I click on new folder and I type the name in and hit create and it disappears somewhere in cyperspace ..... nowhere to be found. So I have nowhere to copy my files to. I understand the concept and I see the awesome potential but I am about to give up and use the classic template which I don't really want to. I am not a computer programmer. I just like using windows and clicking and dragging. Am I supposed to be on one of those black pages with all those foreign codes that give you a headache? Please help!!!!!!

How are you creating the folder? Are you in your webmaster panel? Are you creating it locally on your pc to be uploaded later?

You said you were trying to use the Purple Lilly template. Did you unzip it locally and FTP it to the proper location on your website?

Yes, I am in my website's control panel file manager trying to do all of this. Yes, I unzipped the purple lily template as well and uploaded it to the same place. On the left side of the page are all of the yellow folders (includes, templates,) and then on the right side of the page I see what I uploaded from the purple lily template plus all the other php files as well.

Did you follow the instructions that came with the Purple Lily template? Did you upload the Purple Lily folder to the includes/template folder?

I know the questions may seem silly and annoying, but it's information we need in order to help.

    Default Still having major difficulties!

Ok, I uploaded the purple lily template again to my template directory - I did in the default one but I think that was a mistake. I did not overwrite any files though. Now when I go into Admin I get this warning when I go into the Template Selection which says "Variable passed to each ( ) is not an array or object in /home/shopsma1/public_html/shop/admin/template_select.php on line 210. Then when I select new language I get the warning "Catchable fatal error: Object of class query factory result could not be converted to string in /home/shopsma1/public_html/shop/admin/includes/functions/html_output.php on line 343. So in the zen cart admin panel, there is not template at all in the directory available to select. Not even classic anymore.

    Hi

Sounds as if something has gone bad somewhere, can you restore your files to an earlier date to start again?

    Thanks

I hate to jump in the middle of a thread, but the Purple Lily template files are already inside an 'includes' folder, so that folder should just be dragged to the root of your site ( the top folder, usually public_html), not to the templates folder.

Before you do that, find and delete every folder named PC01 in your templates folder and check to see if your site works again first.
