    Default path for images; new unix host

    Hi,

    I have completed the transfer of my site to the new ubuntu server. Everything is fine except the images do not display.

    I know I can go through each product and re-path the image and it displays but do I have to do it for over 100 images?

    Is there a way I can just get all the images to show up at once?

    Thanks

    You might be able to change the path once where it is defined in your configure.php file. But more significantly is understanding why you need to do this at all. Transfering a site shouldn't change its structure and therefore its path names.

    thanks for the reply.
    Followed directions in the zen tutorial which said to upload the old over the new with two exceptions..configure.php (both locations)

    I will try looking for the path there.

    Also, After your comments I figure I havent uploaded all of the files.

    Thanks again Kuroi

    Had a look at includes/configure.php:

    define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/one/');
    define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/one/');

    define('DIR_WS_IMAGES', 'images/');

    and admin/includes/configure.php:

    define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/one/admin/');
    define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/one/');
    define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_ADMIN', '/one/admin/');
    define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/one/');

    define('DIR_WS_IMAGES', 'images/');

    Can you see any probs here?

    I recopied all of the old files over the new (this time a blanket action) and after some fiddling with permissions on certain files and folders I got it working... But still no images... I'm stumped

    Since you haven't said where your images are, it's not possible for us to assess whether the paths are correct.

    I can only repeat that transfering a site shouldn't change its structure and therefore its path names.

    This problem is sounding a bit like this one though ...

    tried taking the /one out of configure.php's...no luck

    the difference between this and my last problem is I was accessing the site remotely and couldnt see any graphics last time.

    This time I am accessing it 'in house' and I can see all the graphics just can't get the images to display (without manually pathing them all in again).

    Any other ideas?

    hi kuroi,

    Thanks for your help again. I fixed it.

    The problem this time was I had 2 machines running, both resolving to localhost.
    When I turned off my winxp server all the images appeared on the unix box.

    ok thanks again
    sorry if i wasted your time.

    It's never a waste of time when I learn something. This was an interesting new resolution, so I have something new to add to my diagnostic toolkit.
