    Default Admin page problems. Newbie!

    Hello All:

I'm a newbie. I have manged to encounter the same problem two different ways.

Typically when I navigate to my admin page the "Admin Username" and "Admin Password" boxes appear in the middle of the page. Once the data is entered a page is displayed with configuration options and drop-down menus to access all of the controls.

1st problem. I changed my Admin folder name and the admin/includes/configure.php. When I navigated to the admin page the "Admin Username" and "Admin Password" boxes had moved to the left side of the page. When I entered the data I moved to a text only page with a navigation tree down the left side. None of the links worked.

I had made a backup do I undid the changes and all was well.

2nd problem. I tried doing a search using Developers Toolkit. All went well. When I used the back button to leave the Developers Toolkit I was asked to resend the login data. Now I am back to the navigation tree. I no longer have drop-down menus. Also, if I log out and then try to log in again the "Admin Username" and "Admin Password" boxes have once again moved to the left instead of the middle of the page where they normally are.

This time I have no idea how to fix this.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

    Also:

I hope that I posted in the correct room. First Steps seemed right because I just got started yesterday.

    I am using version 1.3.8
    Have installed no addons
    Have not started customizing
Have installed security patch. No problems.

    Thanks again!

    Hi

It seems unlikely that "just changing your admin floder's name" has created this problem, and without a backup you can restore to leaves you in more trouble.

Since you haven't started customizing your site yet I would recommend un-installing and then re-installing your shop.

    Thanks

    Phil

    Hello:

Thanks for the reply. Actually I did have a backup and was able to correct the problems caused by the admin name change.

However, the same problem has been caused by backing out of the Developers Toolbox. This time I am unable to correct the problem because I don't know what has gone wrong.

I have a couple of screenshots of that I am getting:
