New install to Linux Server

Hi all, 1st post, no doubt one of many

I installed ZC on a windows based server with no problems and the realised than I was limited in setting file permissions so got I got the server changed to Linux.

OK, I've used an FTP program to get the new install files across to the Linux server and placed them within a htdocs file. I have changed all the necessary folders and files to 777 etc.

When I go to my browser bar to access the Zen install it cannot find it. Any ideas? Does it need installing elsewhere?

Yes, Ill try again, it may be my PC. I'll clear the cache and see.

Is there a quick way of setting the file permissions of each folder to 777? Most are set to 707 which is owner, if I set to 777 it set permisions for Group.
