Dynamic column width

Hi I have a lot of catagories and subcatagories with varying title lenghts. Is there any setting within admin that dynamically adjusts the left catagory width based on the lenght of the catagory / subcatagory title lenght? I'd like the titles not to wrap.
If there isn't a setting in admin is there any simply way to achieve this without being a php genious?
