Server migration issues

First of all, I apologize if I'm lacking a lot of information, as well as if this is the wrong section.

I've recently been hired by a company to maintain their ZenCart installations. While I don't have much experience with ZenCart, I've worked with Drupal and Plone before.

Unfortunately, my work with Drupal and Plone was from the start. Here, I'm jumping on mid-term. The company recently migrated servers and my boss wants me to apply the templates from the original site.

At first, I thought it would be easy. Just create a new template from the default, load in the available files, and be done with it. However, I quickly realized it was at least slightly more complicated - they didn't just have custom templates, but several custom pages, functions, and a customized english.php page.
Now, I say "custom" to mean "whoever migrated the server dropped these files into a folder so I'm assuming they're customized or otherwise relevant."

After attempting to move all the provided files into the proper folders, I was greeted with a blank page. Which either means: a) I didn't guess the proper folders, b) the files have a php error, or c) there were a lot of changes between whatever version they were previously on and v1.38.

Mostly, what I'm asking is for any tips and if anyone knows whether or not a version upgrade could break how files linked together.
