customers online at same time - order for both come in under one customer

Had a new customer sign up and place an order. Looks like another new customer was online at the same time. Their order came in about 3 minutes later. Problem was the second order showed up as coming from the first customer's account. I knew it couldn't be another order from the first customer due to item ordered and the totally different shipping name and address. So confirmation for the second person's order was sent to the first customer's e-mail. It didn't collect any information from the second person.

Looks like this is only happening when two customers are ordering at the same time. Is this a bug, a hack, or what?

I am having the exact same problem. As the holiday season is upon us, we are getting a lot of orders coming in at the same time. We have had several orders overlap - 1st customer's shipping info going into 2nd customer's invoice, etc. We had one irate customer call us up and scream at us for violating security. Please help!! Anyone else solved this customer overlap problem?? This is a real issue for busy storefronts!

Sounds like such a serious problem that I'm surprised there was no reply to the post from September.

Maybe somebody would pay attention to this if you posted in in the Reports of Security Problems forum. Of course, none of the rest of us would see it there, since it's a write-only forum for security purposes, but at least maybe someone would look into it. Dunno. Hope so.
