    How large are the downloads?

    Some possible causes are:

    1. The downloads are being aborted before they complete. This can be caused by lost connections, buggy FTP software and impatient users.

    2. Most file systems have practical limits on the file sizes they can hold. From memory, a FAT16 can only hold files less than 2Gb, FAT32 is limited to 4Gb

What program are you using to create the zips? Try zipping with a different program. Not all .zips are created equal.

Sadly, there really are a number of things that can cause problems, and some of them are out of your control.

Hope this is of some little help.

    Cheers

You can't really know that unless you know where the people downloading them to. Are you 100% sure that the people having problem aren't trying to download them to a floppy disk? (they probably aren't, but they could be trying to use a low capacity USB stick or similar).

Or it may solve the problem.

It is only out of your control if you let it be so. If you do nothing then the problem will remain. Only by doing *something* will you manage to take care of the issue.

Yes, but most, if not all of them can be fixed or minimised.

That is something you can only answer yourself. Shut your store down perhaps? Or *maybe* simply using a different zip program will provide a solution?
Perhaps ask a few simple questions from the people that have problems, eg, find out what program they are using to download, or what program they are are using to unzip the files with. If you find they all happen to be using version 123 of program XYZ you will at least be able to advise others to avoid using those program for your files.

Doing nothing other than stating it may be out of your control doesn't help you or your customers. You have to do *something*, and if you do make thing 'worse' you can always revert back to the 'not as bad'.

    Cheers

This often happens to me too.

My files are less than 200 KBytes and many are even less than 100 KBytes. The same here as she explained; what works for one customer, it does not for other and I find myself sending the product manually.

I used 7-Zip, Ultimate Zip and WinZip alternatively for compressing the small PDF files (Wiring Diagrams) and this happens regardless of what compression program I use.

The thing is that if I download the product my self, it downloads and unzips no problem.

I have enabled "Download by Redirect" and disabled "Download by Streaming".

I ended up extending to 30 days the download availability and up to 3 times, to see if this minimizes.

If anyone have any other idea it will be much appreciated.

Thinking about this, I guess that many people is used to offline Windows environment and automatically make double-clicks instead of single-clicks on Internet buttons.

I did the test and if a double click was done instead of a single one, the server tried to do the two actions, instead of accepting just the first click.

Is there a script or code to prevent the system, in this case, Zencart, from taking action on more than just one click, once a prior click was performed in the same button in a certain time frame?

I don't know, just guessing here, but double-clicking is the only reason left in my mind after trying to resolve this situation.
