    Default Options and Attributes

I want to add some Options and Attributes to a group of products.

    example: I have a category called computers, I want to add Options named CPU and Hard Drive, Option Tpe would be text {just to keep it simple for now}

Thus all computer will have both these options and the admin would have to manually enter the attributes and both the Options and Attributes would appear on the product display page.

    I created the Options Name

Admin -> Catalog -> Option Name Manager

But Im lost on how to link only these options to that category and how will the admin be able to enter the attributes manually.

Any help or guidance would be helpfull

    THanks

    Hi there,

I'm a but unlcear with your explanation.

    You are selling computers.

Someone goes to a product page with yuo selling a computer.

There are to select an option to choose type of CPU and type of HD ?

You saying they can select say 160g HD or 500g HD ? And select from range of CPU ?

If you wish to add for example the same attributes to ALL of a category. Create a new category (name i what you like and turn it off) ,make a NEW product (turn it off).. name it what you like, in this NEW product create the attributes you wish to be in ALL of the computers category. Then in the Attributes Controller of that product where you add the attributes click on copy to category.
Navigate to computers. Select: Ignore and add only new attributes. and Apply to computers section.

This would add for example CPU and HD attributes you created in the NEW product to all products in computers section.

I'm unsure if this is what you wanted to know but this is about easiest way to achieve this.. there is no simpler way that I now of.

You can have individual attributes for every product. Above is a way to copy attributes from one product and apply them to an entire category to save time doing them individually.

If not be very clear with a full example of product and what you want the user to experience.
