how can I change the position of the "add to cart"-button?
Is the file .../template/nameofthetemplate/templates/tpl_product_info_display.php the right one to change?
Is that also the file where I can remove the "tell a friend"-button?

Yes, and if not there, place your edited copy there

No file edit required -
admin > catalog > Product Types > general > edit layout > Show Product Tell a Friend button > false
