Separate Shipping

I'm trying to set shipping costs for specific items. I searched and read here its done through the weight for an item but you have to turn weights off and put the price there? I tried with no luck and screwed up shipping costs for every other item. Is there a way I'm missing where I could set 1 product in each category's shipping price without effecting the other 100's of items that have a weight in there description, thanks in advance.

What shipping module(s) are you using for your site?

When you say specific prices for "some" products but not for "others", what methods are being used for the "others" ...

hello, versions 1.38a in case different, the shipping mod is "per unit" with "perweightunit" or "store pickup" and only those two. I have it much better after playing with tare and item weights a bit but still not perfect. If someone adds two big heavy items it doesn't calculate right. One big heavy shipping is $30.00, two big heavies say $36.00. On that subject I am reading and looking to see if there is a group thing to add the heavy items to, theres only 8, and only allow 1 of the 8 to be added to the cart at a time, but any help is really appreciated. If by chance your an author on zen cart, something to think about, when inserting a new item, could we have a box to set individual shipping prices. Just need a spot in database and a text field, I think, thanks again.

Make sure that you change the settings in Shipping/Packaging to have the:
Maximum Weight to 5000
Small/Medium Tare 0:0
Large Tare: 0:0
