login problems

hi, if i log in and enter the incorrect details it prompts me straight away, if i enter the correct details it now takes ages before it logs in
im upto date with scripts and it was all working fine before the weekend, nothing has changed, any ideas what i can check?

The server is a VPS maintained by ourselves, and ive had someone look into it and nothing as basically changed on the server, from time to time there are updates to the servers core files, but i have a number of sites on here, and only this site has the problem with the admin.

Im running the latest Zen Cart release with the latest patch.
I have a GoDaddy SSL seal, and enabled for customer login and the admin area

It seems to only affect when access the index.php in my adminfolder everything else is working perfectly, accessing orders, viewing customers, adding products, all is fine, its when i click the logo top left to go home, and also when i log into the admin area.

Just to recap what the problem is, its a long pause from entering the correct username and password and receiving my logged in page.
However if i enter the wrong username and password, it tells me straight away.

Is there something i can enable to see what its spending its time doing when accessing index.php in the admin folder.
Is anyone else having the same problems

turned out to be the checking for updates (zen cart), as soon as that was turned off i was in straight away.
